In the group stage, 18 teams have been divided into two groups of 9. They'll have to go up against each other in the Round-Robin system. All matches will be played in a best-of-two format. A team will get 2 points for a win, and 1 for a tie.

The 4 best teams from each group will advance out to the upper bracket playoff, teams that will take the 5th-8th places will get into the lower bracket playoff, and a team taking the 9th place will leave The International 2017.

The playoff will use a double-elimination system. The first round of the playoff lower bracket will be best-of-one, while the rest will be bo3.

The group stage of The International 2017 will run from 2-5 August, while the playoff from 7-12 August.
